Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Peter Skeffington! Mary and Pete were married in a romantic October wedding with a ceremony at St. James Catholic Church and a wedding reception hosted at the Country Club of Decatur both in Decatur, IL. This wedding day was the perfect balance of romance and fun. Weddings like this, where a bride and groom are so obviously crazy about each other, make my job as a wedding photographer so much more fun!

A Romantic Country Club of Decatur Wedding

I knew when I met Mary and Pete for their dreamy outdoor engagement session that their Decatur wedding would be something really special. I mean, how could it not be? Their families already got along since they were introduced on a blind date set up by their own parents! I was so excited to photograph their fall wedding.

The day began at Mary’s family home. Her family lives on over 30 acres of beautiful Midwest land, which fostered her love of the outdoors. She prepared for the special day alongside with her bridesmaids, mother, and Pete’s mother. I loved the soft, blush pink the bridesmaids wore. It was such a soft and romantic wedding color. When combined with the ivory of Mary’s PRONOVIAS gown, the resulting look was soft, feminine and romantic.

We headed to the ceremony at St. James Catholic Church in Decatur, a stunning and impressive church with high, arching ceilings and intricately detailed stained-glass windows. Mary and Pete chose to see each other for the first time when she walked down the aisle and when the doors opened to reveal his bride, Pete looked overjoyed. After a full Catholic mass, the bride and groom were pronounced husband and wife and were met with applause from the entire congregation.

Romance, Joy & Beer!

If there’s one thing that makes me smile, it’s when a bride and groom have a vision for their wedding and wedding photography. Mary and Pete had such unique ideas for their wedding photos! Pete works for his family business at Skeff distribution, which is an Anheuser Busch Distributing center to central Illinois. What a fun backdrop for wedding photos! We headed over to Skeff with the bridal party for some fun and unique portraits. Mary had a vision of a “King of Beers” semi-truck in the background, so we were able to get the whole bridal party lined up by the Bud Light truck. With her and “her king” right in the middle. The distribution center gave us so many fun places for wedding photos! I loved this unique idea that was so perfectly Mary and Pete.

It was easy to capture the love of this bride and groom. They obviously adore one another. From the small smiles to the gentle touches, the way the connected all through the day was beautiful and natural. Photographing them was easy and I was happy to capture so many candid moments of the two of them being so sweet together.

Their romantic wedding reception at the Country Club of Decatur was a true celebration. The evening kicked off with brief, but heartfelt speeches from the fathers of the bride and groom and the best man and matron of honor. From there, the party really got started. It was a wonderful day filled with romance and mutual adoration. I was so happy to be there as their wedding photographer.

Mary and Pete, I hope you had an amazing honeymoon in Mexico. I hope your love carries you through so many more adventures in the years to come.
