A backyard wedding is just the perfect ceremony for a couple of high school sweethearts. And Kaylyn and Josh obviously felt that way, too!
If you are like me, you absolutely love to hear a good love story. It is especially amazing to meet couples whose love blossomed early and continues to grow. Kaylyn and Josh are high school sweethearts, and the two have continued learn, love, and grow together ever since. Kaylyn used to see Josh in the hallways at school and always thought that he was so cute. On the other hand, Josh noticed his future bride at one of her basketball games and thought that she was quite impressive on the court. When they finally started talking at an after-prom party, Kaylyn liked how funny and a little bit nerdy he was. Josh realized that Kaylyn was shy, but was also taken in by her beautiful smile – he knew he needed to get to know her better!
Although they were both interested, they waited to start anything official, as Josh was starting college in the fall. That didn’t last long, however, and even through their time apart they knew they wanted to be together and make their relationship work.
I was lucky enough to photograph this sweet couple’s engagement session, so of course I was excited to capture all the precious moments on their big day!
Kaylyn and Josh had their backyard wedding at Kaylyn’s childhood home. They spend so much time there as a couple, which made this a special place to tie the knot. An old wooden swing that they love and a red gate leading to a beautiful pasture were perfect elements that added to the personal feel of the backyard ceremony.
The entire day radiated with a rustic chic ambiance – so fitting for the setting! Kaylyn and Josh chose whites, greens, and lavender as their colors to accentuate their love of the outdoors. The many wooden accents tied everything together with a stylish elegance. The rustic chic was also prevalent at their reception, which took place at Sheedy Shores Winery in Laomi, IL. On top of the floral decorations, beautiful cake, and wooden accents, the best part was witnessing Kaylyn and Josh celebrating their new marriage with everyone they love most.
It was truly a perfect day. Wishing a lifetime of happiness and blissful memories these high school sweethearts!
