Katie and Ryan describe themselves as old souls. “When others went out to the bars on Friday nights in college, we preferred to stay home and read together,” says Katie. Their wedding in May at the Cog Hill Country Club in Lemont, IL was the thing of vintage dreams. From the antique car to the unique groom’s gifts of pocket watches and the navy and cream colors incorporated throughout the day there was an air of vintage whimsy to Katie and Ryan’s special wedding day. They also decorated with vintage style books and lanterns as their centerpieces at the reception to help showcase their combined love of reading.
Katie and Ryan are quirky together but in the best, most interesting ways. When talking about their romance Katie quotes Emily Bronte, “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” I couldn’t believe this to be more true for Katie and Ryan. They met while attending summer school before freshman year of high school, because they are both overachievers. Katie had a crush on Ryan but he never noticed. They ended up just being friends for awhile, dated briefly, broke up…you know high school drama; but eventually they got back together two days after senior prom and have been inseparable ever since. Katie says, “Ryan knew it was meant to be much sooner than I did. For me it came on slowly through little moments. But once I realized it, I thought “Of course he’s the one. He’s always been the one.””
Together they love to read, (as previously mentioned), they love to be in nature as they believe it brings them closer to their faith, going on walks and cooking together…even though they say they aren’t very good at it yet, good thing they have a lifetime together to practice!
