Romantic. Charming. Timeless. All of these words perfectly describe Maggy and Lucas’ Shelbyville engagement session. It was such a pleasure getting to know these cute lovebirds, and capturing their loving glances, warm embraces, and heartfelt smiles. The outdoor setting combined with this couple’s sweet love for each other made for photos they will cherish for a lifetime!

A Romantic Setting

Maggy and Lucas met several times over the years, as Lucas was Maggy’s cousin’s college roommate. However, it wasn’t until her cousin’s wedding that these sweethearts really hit it off. Both Maggy and Lucas were in the wedding party, which meant they had plenty of time to hang out and get to know each other better. They spent a few days laughing, participating in wedding activities, and having a great time. During the reception, Lucas asked Maggy to dance, during which Maggy’s family immediately started taking pictures of the two of them. Maggy says that they may have had a hunch that she had a crush on Lucas! Little did they know they would one day be meeting with me for a beautiful engagement session in Shelbyville, IL!

The rest is history. Maggy says, “We knew pretty early on that we could be in it for the long haul. We went together without forcing it and we loved spending time with one another.” And isn’t that the best kind of love?

A Lasting Love

As a couple, Maggy and Lucas love eating Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, taking cooking classes, checkout out up and coming musical acts, and spending time with their families. Strong family ties can certainly make for some strong relationship foundations! Both say that they have wonderful families that support them in everything that they do. Good thing, too, because Maggy has said that when you marry someone, you aren’t just marrying that person, but their family as well. How true that is, and how wonderful to have such amazing families! With all that love, Maggy and Lucas say that no matter where they go, home is always where the heart is, and they love traveling home to see their families. These two are so incredibly sweet!

A Shelbyville Engagement Session

To celebrate their beautiful relationship, I joined Maggy and Lucas in Shelbyville to take their engagement photos. We grabbed a few adorable photos in front of her house in Shelbyville, as well as a nearby park. Fun fact: Maggy’s dad helped create the park where we took some of their photos, making it an extremely special backdrop to the photos they will cherish forever. Throughout their engagement session, it was clear that Lucas and Maggy love life and love each other. Each of their photos sparkled with happiness and heart. It really was so fun to capture precious moments that spoke of their love story.
