Karson and Paul’s Traditional Bloomington, IL Wedding

Karson and Paul met in college at Illinois Wesleyan University. Freshman year they lived in same dorm building.Through their sorority and fraternity they both had many mutual friends, but it wasn’t until sophomore year that they started to spend more time together. Karson and Paul would challenge each other to putt putt contests at Paul’s fraternity house. They went to a fraternity formal with other dates; but ended up dancing and talking together all night. When Paul talked about how much he loved his mom and how close he was with her Karson knew that he was a keeper. Paul was the first guy she brought home to meet her family, and Karson’s parents and grandparents would always tease her, “the first guy you bring home is the guy you will marry”… it turns out they were right!

Karson and Paul got married in Bloomington; which is where they fell in love. Their traditional Catholic ceremony at Holy Trinity Church is where they first started to attend church together so it was very special that they got to say their I Do’s in a place that means so much to them. They were also able to head back to their Illinois Wesleyan roots and take some pictures in front of the fraternity and sorority house where so many first memories were made. Being able to make these special places apart of their wedding day added to their love story in such a beautiful way.

Their August wedding was full of classic elegance, traditional touches and sentimental moments. The bridesmaid’s dresses were beautiful and understated in a taupe color and the groomsmen were in all black. The flowers were mostly white with some lavender and blush tones sprinkled in. Karson pinned her sorority pin, which is a small gold key, on her flower stems; along with her something old; her great great grandmother’s handkerchief at the base of her bouquet. For her something new she had her gown, veil, shoes, jewelry and for her something blue she had her blue garter. And to finish it off her something borrowed was her mom’s diamond earrings. I love the traditional sense of doing this bridal rhyme “Something Borrowed, Something Blue” and having so many things that mean so much to you from your sorority, mom and grandmother with you to say I Do; how special!

I’m all about preserving those moments that tell your story.

Whether it’s four feet ankle-deep in mud, tenderly clasped hands, a happy tear cascading over a cheek, a hair-back laugh or a sun-drenched kiss,

The ones that move you. Bind you. Bring you together and keep you together long after the memory fades.
