“L” is for the way you look at me. This sweet love song perfectly describes Rachel and Nathan, a wonderful couple that I got to spend time with to create their perfect city chic Chicago engagement shoot! Seriously, Rachel and Nathan just have that special something…that starry-eyed “love in their eyes” look whenever they catch a glimpse of one another. And boy was it a blast to capture those dreamy looks in their city chic engagement photos!

Blind Date to Friendship to Love

Best friends make the best forever partners, and that is exactly what Rachel and Nathan are to each other. These two met on a blind date that was set up by a mutual friend. Rachel wasn’t interested in the typical “dinner and movie” first date, and told Nathan as much. Nathan stepped up to the plate and planned an incredible date, one that showed Rachel that this guy just might be worth her time. Through his work, Nathan sponsors a child at Christmas each year, and it presented the perfect opportunity to have a fun, meaningful date with his future wife. They picked out a bunch of presents for his sponsored child, ate dinner, and wrapped the gifts together. Both had such a good time and enjoyed laughing and talking – it was like they had known each other all their lives. What an amazing way to get to know each other!  In the end, Rachel and Nathan each said that they knew it was meant to be on that date. Wow!

Their relationship blossomed from day one, turning from friendship to love in what feels like an instant. Rachel and Nathan love to laugh and play jokes on each other. Rachel loves Nathan’s patience and support, saying that he was her best friend and biggest fan from the very beginning. Nathan is in awe of Rachel’s ambition and loves that when she sets her mind to something, she gives it her all. He also can’t get enough of her incredible loyalty – to him, her friend, and her family. As he says, she would do anything for the people she loves. All in all, I’d say they’ve got a solid foundation upon which to continue building their relationship!

City Chic Chicago Engagement Session

Most of Rachel and Nathan’s free time is spent exploring Chicago. They enjoy trying new restaurants, visiting the beach in Chicago, and going to festivals. Because of their love for the city, a city chic Chicago engagement session was exactly what this couple needed – and exactly what they got! Of course, because the city is so special to them, it was tricky to choose the right shooting locations. They ended up selecting the Wrigley Building and North Avenue Beach for two completely different looks, but both with the very chic city engagement session feel they were aiming for. Their must-have shots were candid photos of them laughing – after all, that is what they do best!  This wasn’t hard, though, because the magic between this loving couple was radiant. The love and admiration that is at the core of their relationship shone throughout the entire shoot – from the very first photo to the very last.

Rachel and Nathan are excited for their upcoming spring wedding, where they will celebrate their love with all their family and friends. And I’ve gotta say, after this city chic engagement session, so am I!
