One of the best things about being an engagement and wedding photographer is getting to know the unique personalities of the different couples I work with. It is so fun to discover how two people met, fell in love, and how they spend their time together. Of course, Josh and Kaylyn’s outdoor engagement photos were no different! I was able to learn so much about these sweet individuals, and it was so fun to capture their love.
Kaylyn and Josh went to the same high school, but did not officially meet until Josh’s senior prom. Kaylyn used to see him in the hallways and thought he was cute, and Josh noticed her at a basketball game and found her quite impressive on the court. When prom rolled around, Kaylyn went with someone else, while Josh went solo, only going because he was on prom court. He ended up winning Prom King, and the two started talking at an after party. Little did she know that he would one day be her king, *wink wink*! When Josh went off to school, they figured they would go their separate ways, but both realized it was meant to be when after only a few months of being apart, they knew they wanted to make it work.
Now, this relaxed and easygoing couple has been together for what seems like forever, and they are excited to continue their journey together. They love to go to local restaurants, take walks around the neighborhood and local park, and binge watch their favorite TV shows. They both keep busy – Kaylyn with optometry school and Josh with two jobs and a demanding kickball team – and they definitely appreciate a nice, relaxing evening at home to unwind.
As they plan for their upcoming wedding, it was wonderful to be a part of celebrating their engagement. Their spring outdoor engagement photos were everything you would want in a spring session! The couple was able to dress down and wear their comfortable t-shits and jeans before Kaylyn put on a beautiful white eyelet dress. With a small creek surrounded by trees just beginning to regrow their leaves, the setting could not have been more perfect. Capturing the small and beautiful moments between this beautiful couple was such a pleasure.
Of course, the weather and sunshine during their shoot was getting me so excited for the upcoming wedding season! Don’t you just love love?
