In September, I had a chance to catch up with Meredith and Carly to photograph their Fountain Square engagement session in downtown Indianapolis. I had so much fun getting to know these two amazing women as we made our way around the city, using some of its most iconic spots as backdrops for their photographs. From Fountain Square to Fletcher Place, it was easy to capture their love for each other.

Meredith & Carly’s Love Story

Meredith and Carly first met when Meredith first started working in the ER. Carly trained her on her very first day, and they both knew immediately that they would change each other’s lives.

Carly immediately thought Meredith was “…going to be trouble.” And Meredith just knew that Carly would change things… While she wasn’t sure how, there was something there from the very first minute. Their love has been random, spontaneous and unexpected—just like the two of them. So, when the proposal was also random and spontaneous, it was par for the course.

When you meet Meredith and Carly, it’s easy to see they are just so in love! It’s amazing to witness the effortless connection they share. It’s so clear that they adore each other and make one another happy. They complement each other and are just so comfortable with each other. When I met up with them to photograph their engagement session, it was easy to document their love.

Fountain Square Engagement Photography

For Meredith and Carly’s engagement session, we agreed that downtown Indianapolis would be the perfect backdrop for their portraits. They wanted to incorporate the city and the beautiful Indianapolis skyline.

Indianapolis is home to many special moments in Meredith and Carly’s relationship, so these photos were almost like a walk through their life together. We took pictures in the Fountain Square area, Mass Ave. near their first apartment, and even Lockerbie Square where they used to walk their sweet puppy. It was important to me that the engagement session reflected them and their love for each other.

Just southeast of downtown Indianapolis, Fountain Square has a fun, funky vibe. It’s filled with interesting independent restaurants and has a thriving arts scene. It worked out to be such a fun backdrop for their engagement photos!

One of the great loves of Meredith and Carly’s life is their sweet pup, Darby. In their spare time they enjoy a good binge-watch, and proudly state that if it’s binge-able, they’ve probably watched it. They enjoy the Indy bar scene, and love cooking together and finding wonderful places to eat. They also share a love of music and reading and have a small (but growing) library that covers a range of topics.

I’m so looking forward to being their wedding photographer! Carly and Meredith decided to wait until they could afford to have the wedding they wanted, and they are so glad they did. I’m excited to see their vision come together. I was so pleased to meet them and to photograph their Fountain Square engagement session!
