Outdoor engagement sessions are so much fun, especially when the couple has a specific idea in mind that embodies their personalities. For Allie and Colin, they chose to incorporate baseball into their engagement session, and boy were we able to have some fun with this shoot! Allie and Colin love baseball, and even though they both root for different teams, they ultimately just really love the sport. They wanted to get some photos in a baseball field to capture what they bonded over most when they first started getting to know each other, before they were even dating. Yay for fun couples and unique photo sessions!
This fun-loving couple met through mutual friends, and they worked in the same department at State Farm. When he first met his future spouse, Colin said that he thought Allie was really pretty and he very much wanted to talk to her and get to know her. Allie was initially attracted to Colin because she thought he was funny, cute, and knew so much about sports. As they continued to get to know each other and then date, these sweet lovebirds found that they simply enjoyed hanging out together. They are introverts, and they both like to decompress and have their quiet time alone, but together. As a couple, they like to watch sports (especially baseball!), play sports, workout, play cooperative board games, watch romantic comedies, and play with their three cats. They are also working on visiting all 30 MLB stadiums – how fun is that?!
Throughout their time together, the two eventually realized that they were meant to be. Colin knew he wanted to marry Allie over time by enjoying each day with her, and spending time laughing and hanging out with her. Seeing how she would react and handle all situations, Colin knew that she was smart, level-headed, and an all-around great person. Allie knew she wanted to be with Colin as soon as she realized she was in love with him. She said, “I was just walking into work, and I was thinking about our time together laughing, and I thought, ‘Oh, Colin, I love him.’” She has adored him since, and she loves how they fit together with their personalities being similar and yet different. With a love like theirs, it is no surprise that a proposal would soon be coming!
Over Christmas, Allie and Colin went to Germany to visit Colin’s sister who lives in Berlin. On Christmas Eve, they went for a walk with his parents through a park and stopped at a lake with ducks in it. It was a chilly morning, so there weren’t too many people around. Colin asked what backdrop that Allie thought was prettiest so they could get a picture. His mom took the photo, and he claimed he wasn’t smiling so they would have to do it again. In that perfectly timed, romantic moment, Colin pulled out a ring box and gave a speech about how wonderful Allie is and how happy she makes him, and he promptly asked his sweetheart to marry him. Oh, the feels! Does anyone else have goosebumps?
To celebrate this cute engaged couple, we took to the outdoors – including a running trail, outside the Normal Theater, and a baseball field! Each of these places hold a dear place in the hearts of Allie and Nick, which made them perfect locations for their engagement photos. The Constitution Trail is a place they enjoy running and biking, while the Normal Theater is where they will be getting hitched! Of course, the baseball field is the perfect embodiment of who Allie and Nick are as a couple. We captured some cute photos of the duo holding a baseball with their names and wedding date on it, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! The entire session was full of loving glances, adoring kisses, intimate moments, laughter, and joy. Wishing all the best to Allie and Colin as they embark on their next adventure!
