What’s better than one wedding ceremony to celebrate your joyous union and newest adventure as a couple? Two wedding ceremonies! Molly and Sunny wanted to honor both of their background and traditions during their traditional and romantic wedding celebration, so they hosted two ceremonies! Day one was a traditional Sikh ceremony that was full of color and ornate details, while day two was a traditional Christian ceremony held outside with soft details. Molly and Sunny’s family and friends gathered to tie in both heritages, and it came together in the most beautiful way! As their photographer, it was wonderful witnessing the traditions combined with the couple’s love for each other. It couldn’t have turned out better!
Molly and Sunny met online and started dating after their first date. When Molly walked in to old Chicago and first saw her future hubby in person, he took her breath away. She says that she tried to play it cool, but felt nerdy and awkward. In her own words, she said, “I couldn’t believe he, the guy who looks like a freaking mythical handsome beast, actually agreed to go on a date with me – this scrawny, boyish looking girl with short blonde hair.” She was wearing a mustard-colored coat with white, knitted boots, and thought that she had no style. How hilarious it is to learn the first thoughts someone has about their future spouse, especially when they don’t know at the time that they will one day end up together!
When Sunny first saw Molly, he was taken away by her amazing smile. He could tell she was outgoing, while he was more reserved. He, too, remembers the mustard-colored jacket, thinking that it was a bold move. The same moment, different perspectives, but all leading to traditional and romantic wedding in their future.
Although they say they didn’t start off the greatest, these sweet lovebirds found each other in time throughout their relationship. A great manifestation that relationships take work, but they are definitely worth it! Together, they are a couple of weirdos and are known as the comedic couple with their friends. They enjoy watching movies and TV together, going to the gym, and napping (because adulting is tiring)! Both realized after about three years of dating that they were meant to be. Molly was aware that she couldn’t be with anyone else – Sunny was her everything and continues to be! Sunny could see his future with his sweet bride-to-be after playing many scenarios in his head for the future. He realized that Molly was his best friend and life partner, and that he could just be himself around her because she made him extremely comfortable.
When asked about what they love about each other, Molly and Sunny were more than willing to open up. Molly said, “I love how gentle he is when it’s just the two of us. I love the way he loves me. He is so giving to his family and myself. His smile is so captivating, it lights up the room. He’s a secret comedian, coming out of nowhere, making your stomach hurt from laughing so hard. He is so intelligent. If he doesn’t know how to do something, he figures out a way and gets it done. He’s truly inspiring, and I look up to him. And obviously his bod because the guy is a beast in the gym.” She obviously loves Sunny for all of him!
Sunny also gushed about his leading lady, saying, “I love how she gives people chances and gives them the benefit of the doubt. You can definitely tell how much she cares for someone when she goes out of her way to try and make things right for them. She is incredibly caring, especially to her dogs. I love how she listens to people’s opinions before making her own. She will not judge you. Molly will not judge you. She brings out the best in people and her smile is incredibly contagious. She really tried to push me to become more than I am.” If their love isn’t the most inspiring thing ever, I don’t know what is!
Molly and Sunny promised themselves to each other in not one, but two, traditional and romantic wedding ceremonies in September 2017 at Metamora Fields. Honestly, their love is so immense, I don’t even know that two ceremonies was enough to show off all the love there! However, their wedding celebrations were magnificent, and it was a blast getting to capture the energy and spark between this cute couple. The Sikh ceremony was first, boasting bold colors of red and gold. Molly’s Sikh dress was also red and gold, the traditional bridal colors for the Sikh religion, and she had a henna done that she also kept for the Christian ceremony. For this ceremony, the guests sat on the floor at the temple. Women wore a chunni or a head scarf, which the bride and groom provided for those that needed one. Men wore a traditional ramal, which is like a bandana or turban. It was so cool to see these wonderful traditions incorporated into this traditional and romantic wedding ceremony.
The sweet couple hosted their Christian ceremony the following day. This ceremony was outdoors, and included floral and décor of navy, light pink, and gold. Molly’s dress was all lace and ivory, while her bridesmaids complemented her with light pink dresses. Sunny and his groomsmen donned navy suits with pink ties. Molly wore her tikka headpiece for the Christian ceremony, bring both religions together in this celebratory union.
They hosted a reception after the ceremony, where Sunny’s family changed into more traditional Indian attire so there would be lots of bright colors and nods to the heritage! The reception incorporated a variety of personal touches that continued to make the sweet couple’s wedding day their very own. Molly and her father danced to the Jurassic Park theme song by the piano guys, as it is a special song between them. The couple included a moment of silence for the loved ones in heaven who couldn’t be with them to celebrate. Finally, Molly hand-painted all of the wine bottles and votive candles for the reception with henna designs to honor the Indian culture.
All of this came together to create the most traditional and romantic wedding ever! It was a beautiful day, and I’m sure Molly and Sunny will look back on this memorable day for the rest of their lives together!
