When I first met with Kait and Joe for their consult, we talked for hours over a couple of beers. I knew within minutes I wanted to be the one to tell their love story. So when Kait sent me an email later that evening, saying they wanted me to photograph their wedding, I was sure we’d be creating some magic. Their day was so perfectly them…even with the 90 degree temps and humidity to match. Though we still made time to capture some beautiful images, we spent less time taking portraits than we planned and instead went to the local bar (and sat in the very spot where they met!) as a respite from the heat. The details were understated, yet so sophisticated. The back of Kait’s dress had the most beautiful lace detail and Joe wore his own navy suit. Their reception was more of a cocktail party than a traditional affair and before dancing even kicked off, the dance floor was full. The flowers were in season from Finding Eminence Farm, the cake a watercolor masterpiece from Trefzger’s Bakery, and they delighted their guests with farm to table bites from Epiphany Farms restaurant. They did have a couple of nods to tradition, with no first look before saying their ‘I Do’s’ at Holy Trinity Catholic Church; instead they opted for a quiet moment alone after the ceremony for the first time as husband and wife.
