Rachel and Darren have come a long way since first spending time together in high school during the Science Olympiad. From winning first place in the science competition to winning each other’s hearts, these two are an unstoppable couple. They promised to be together forever in a classic and timeless wedding ceremony on December 16, 2017. Their day was perfect – full of love, joy, and family and friends – and it was an honor having the opportunity to catch every emotional moment!

From Chemistry Partners to Partners in Life

Rachel and Darren grew up in the same small town, but the first time they really got to spend time together and get to know one another better was when they competed in the Science Olympiad. They were partners for the chemistry lab competition and won first place. Rachel and Darren had so much fun together, so they decided to hang out afterwards and watch the Big Bang Theory – good choice! Rather than watching the show, they just ended up talking the whole time. They have been together ever since. Obviously, chemistry was more than just a subject in school to these future lovebirds! It’s hard to say when either of them knew it was “meant to be” because they have known each other for such a long time. Over time, they have matured and grown together, and everything just kept falling into place.

As a couple, Rachel and Darren love to spend time playing with their munchkin cat Toby. He is there first pet together, and he probably gets as much attention as most human children. They also to go on hikes, play board games, read Michael Crichton books, and watching sci-fi movies and thrillers.  Throughout their relationship, Darren has grown to adore his sweetheart’s cheery attitude, and Rachel loves that her man is always so patient and such a great listener.

A Timeless Wedding at Allerton Mansion

These high school sweethearts tied the knot on a gorgeous day in December at the Allerton Mansion. Nothing like a real-life mansion and deep-red colors to create a classic and timeless wedding ceremony and reception! Rachel stunned in a long-sleeve laced dress, a rhinestone and pearl headpiece, and a veil trimmed in lace. Her favorite accessory was her Omi’s pearls that she wore for her own wedding. Rachel’s papa bought the pearls for her Omi more than 50 years ago, and Rachel’s mom wore them for her wedding too. Such a treasure and a beautiful tradition.

The timeless wedding ceremony was full of memorable moments, happy tears, and hearts brimming with emotion. It was incredible to witness Rachel and Darren’s one-of-a-kind love for each other, and their day was an incredible way to celebrate their union. The timeless atmosphere continued at the reception, where the bride and groom surprised Rachel’s Omi and Papa with a special spotlight dance, to celebrate their 53 married years together. Rachel said that “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” by Elvis has been their song for as long as she can remember, and it was incredible getting to watch these young-at-heart souls dance to their song. It was also a great reminder of what love and marriage look like when you work hard together to make it work as a couple. So sweet!

Rachel and Darren set off to Maui in January after their reception to bask in their new marriage on the beach and under the sun. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and sci-fi movies for these lovebirds!
